I had two ModelCo. makeup items in different beauty boxes in April, and I was really impressed so I was happy to recieve this Hailey Baldwin for ModelCo. lipgloss in June’s Look Fantastic. My Look Fantastic booklet says:
“This hydrating lipgloss gives the most beautiful high-shine finish with the longevity of a long-lasting lipstick. It’s luxuriously rich texture melts into the lips to impart a gorgeous pop of colour, leaving behind a super moisturised lip in its wake.”
This is a 3ml, full size tube of lipgloss in the shade Biz. It’s not the sort of shade I would usually choose for myself as I tend to stick to red and pink shades, but that’s one of the reasons I enjoy beauty boxes so much, is having the opportunity to try something a little different. The lipgloss is available from lots of retailers online for £18, including modelcosmetics.com, where is is also available in the shades: Beige, Baby, Billow and Bewitched.
The gloss comes packaged in a clear plastic tube with the brand and product name printed on the front. On the bottom of the tube is a black sticker with the shade name and volume printed in white writing. The lipgloss has a black cap, and when I unscrew to remove the applicator wand I can see the wand is also black plastic. There is a clever little insert in the neck of the tube which I suspect removes excess gloss from the applicator for a neater application, and to save waste.
The gloss smells like like sweet strawberries. I mean, this gloss really smells like strawberry sweets. Think of a tub of Roses or Quality Street, it smells like the strawberry cream flavour (but without the chocolate). I like it! Switching the gloss on my hand I can see the gloss comes out true to its shade, but it’s a very subtle colouring.
Sweeping the wand along my lip I can see immediately the high shine finish the gloss gives to my lips. The gloss was easy to apply, and the applicator head moves to smoothly match the shape of the lip. It makes the application comfortable, and also prevents patchiness. If you’re wondering if the gloss tastes like strawberries, no it doesn’t (by the way I don’t recommend you eating this to try!)
The result is a very shiny, highly glossy finish. It’s not a highly pigmented gloss, and doesn’t give a lot of colour to my lips but s perfect for a high shine, natural finish. If you want a little more colour you could apply over lipstick for a bigger impact. What I really like about this gloss is it doesn’t stay wet. Whilst it doesn’t dry either, it goes a little tacky so it keeps its high shine, hydrating feel, but I’m not worried it’s going to slide off in five minutes.
I really like this gloss, and I’m very happy with it. It is at the top end of what I would pay for a lipgloss, but my lips feel lovely when I’m wearing it and it really delivers high shine. Add to that the sweet, strawberry fragrance and it is a treat to use indeed.
