Betty Hula ‘Body Moisturiser’ Review

I recieved three moisturisers in May beauty boxes, and this particular one is the last item I have to try from May’s Cohorted box. The Cohorted booklet says:

“A firm favourite, this stylish scent is inspired by the Pacific Islands and leaves your skin feeling sweet and smooth. Delicately applied everyday your skin’s youthfulness will be broug to life.”

Cohorted have featured Betty Hula as a second brand discovery this month, which is where they discuss the brand behind the product. I am a really big fan of this feature – this is my first encounter with Betty Hula and it’s nice to know a little about the brand ethos. The booklet says:

“‘I’m intent on treating you to hand, ace, beautifully balanced skincare products that delight every part of your body… x’ They strive to develop soothing, luxurious affordable products that leave your skin feeling nourished, revaitalised and silky smooth to the touch. Using only the finest natural ingredients, they’ve laced these delectable and innocent skin-nurturing products with fragrant and exotic scents of the tropics. The result is a collection of the finest products you could wish for, lovingly hand, ade just for you. Every element of my products have been based on you. The quietly confident, busy woman who doesn’t need a showy, mass market product which professes impossible wonders. You are the lady who wants natural, honest, indulgent skinca that treats your skin with the luxury it deserves, day in, day out. You are Betty Hula.”

This is a full size 120ml jar of body moisturiser, which is available for £12.99 from I recieved the Rum & Blackcurrant, but it is also available in Champagne & Spice.

The moisturiser is packaged in a beautiful glass jar, which is a lovely frosted shea of pink. The front of the jar has the Betty Hula branding in black writing, with a sketch drawing of a Hula girl. The product and scent are also printed. The back of the jar has the company contact information, and mentions that it includes shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil, aloe vera and vitamin e. The jar also says:

“Honest natural beauty. Betty’s big tub of natural good. Indulge yourself and the one you love. Delicately apply this natural Shea butter all over your body for silky smooth skin no man can resist! Perfect for all skin types, especially beneficial for skin complaints. Can be used for mums-to-be.”

The lid of the jar is a shiny, black plastic, and around the neck of the jar is attached a label, which states it is produced in the U.K.

Ingredients: aqua, butyrospermum parkii butter, cetearyl alcohol, helianthus annus seed oil, aloe barbadensis leaf gel, glycerin, cocos nucofera oil, theobroma cacao seed butter, polysorbate 60, tocopherol, parfum, phenoxyethanol, benzoic acid, benzyl salicylate, dehydroacetic acid, citronellol, ethylhexylglycerin, alpha-isomethyl ionone, polyaminopropyl biguanide, eugenol, limonene amyl cinnamal, hexyl cinnamal, butylphenyl methylpropional, hydroxycitronellal, geraniol, citral, coumarin.

Unscrewing the lid of the pot I can see the moisturiser is a very thick, set body butter. It smells incredible. The first thing I can smell is the rum, and if I close my eyes it transports me to a place where it’s still actually Summer. It’s technically Summer here I. South Wales, but we are have such an enormous amount of rain you’d be forgiven for thinking it was February looking out the window. I can smell the undertones of blackcurrant too – but it’s not a sickly sweet fruity scent the blackcurrant smell is true and tarte like a good cordial. It really smells good enough to eat (but please don’t try!)

I scoop a little moisturiser on to my finger and start to rub into my skin. The creamy formula is absorbed quickly, and left my skin feeling hydrated. I’m so happy that I have this to use, especially on a day like today. I think it’s a really cute moisturiser, which smells amazing. It’s not the sort of thing I would buy for myself again but it is the sort of thing I would buy as a gift – I think it’s special enough to be perfect on its own, or with some other treats for many occasions.
