Glossybox April 2017 Unboxing

I feel like the luckiest girl in the world today, my Postman delivered my April Glossybox less than an hour before I left for the airport. I’m so glad I got my hands on it! Glossybox is a monthly subscription beauty box which costs £10 per month plus p&p. Last month I received an eye watering £76.10 worth of products (based on the best prices I could find for the items online.). The March Glossybox box really was an outstanding box; I loved trying the items inside and a few of the items have become part of my regular routine. I’m really excited to see what Glossybox come up with this month.

Glossybox has sent out with the classic pink box again this month. The classic pink box is pale pink in colour, with the Glossybox branding printed on the lid in black writing.

Lifting the lid of my Glossybox, I can see my Glossybox information card inside. The card is double sided, on the front there is a letter from Evie the Editorial Director, and there is already a sneak peek for May’s box. Evie’s letter this month explains the philosophy behind the box  and this months box is all about beauty products to make busy lives easier. On the bottom of the front of the card, and the back of the card are a list of the products included. The card tells subscribers about the benefits of the product, how to use it, and how much it’s worth.

Under the information card I can see that my Glossybox is finished to its usual high standard. Glossybox take a lot of care and attention when packing their boxes – the items are nestled in black shredded paper, which is surrounded by a sheet of pink tissue paper. The paper is stuck with a little sticker, and then the whole thing is finished with a pretty black ribbon. It really adds to the excitement I feel when I’m opening my Glossybox for the first time each month.

As I unfold the tissue paper I can see that I have 5 items in my Glossybox this month, and two of them are full size items. I have one haircare product, one skincare product and 3 makeup items, so the box has a little more makeup than anything else. That is okay with me though, I’ve had a lot of skincare treats in boxes recently and it’s nice to try something new.

Elgon – Deliwash Cleansing Conditioner: This item is Glossyboxes second sneak peek, and introduces subscribers to something called co-washing. I’ve not heard of co-washing before but my Glossybox card says it combines the cleansing action of a shampoo with the hydrating action of a conditioner – does it sound like a 2-in-1 to anyone else too? I hope it’s hydrating enough for my artificially blonde locks.

Sportfix – Definition Duo Eyeliner Pencil: This is a full size item, and is the second eye pencil I’ve received in a beauty box this month. This pencil is double ended, and has a black and a brown nib so may also come in handy for brows. It also says its waterproof – I’ll test is against the Birchbox liner to find out which is better.

ModelCo – Contour Stick: This item was the original sneak peek that was announced when subscribers received their boxes last month. Glossybox have spent a lot of time showing Glossies all the ways to use the stick, from cheek contouring, to defining features such as chin. Glossybox also suggested this can be used as a lip crayon and eyelid colour. I hope it’s a non greasy formula that glides on.

Rodial – Glamolash Mascara XXL: I am an enormous mascara fan, I am so, so happy to have a mascara in my Glossybox. I like a mascara that really delivers when it comes to creating amazing lashes, be it longer lashes or huge volume (I’ve never found one that can do both.).

Merci Handy – Love and Hand Cleansing Gel: I am still in love with the Merci Handy hand cream I discovered in January, so I was really delighted to see a new Merci Handy product to try. Hand sanitizer is always useful, and I’m a big believer that it doesn’t have to be boring too so I’m looking forward to seeing how this compares to my more conservative sanitizer.

The first impression of my box is really good. All of the products seem really useful, and are things that I can see myself using even if I wouldn’t have necessarily bought any of them in a shop. I’ll be trying each product throughout the month and writing a detailed review on each one. After I’ve tried all the products, I’ll return to this article and leave my overall thoughts, and whether I feel like I had value for money.

Edit: 04.05.17 – I was happy with the initial thoughts of my box, and whilst I didn’t love everything inside I’m still happy now that I’ve finished it. I had a total of £32.62 included, which is great value for the £10 I paid.

A highlight for me was the Merci Handy Cleansing Gel. I have already bought this cute little gel in the flavour ‘Lollipop’ which is also delicious!

The standout item for me is the ModelCo Contour stick. I know the ModelCo product was also my standout item from my Birchbox too, but I was able to contour successfully for the first time which is a huge win for me.

I’m just counting down the days until the next Glossybox – we’ve had a sneak peek and we’re getting an exfoliating coffee scrub in the next box – can’t wait! Faye 💕
