Roccabox April 2017 Unboxing

Roccaboxes debut box launched last month and it was an absolute corker. The box is a monthly subscription box which costs £10 per month plus p&p and last month I received a massive £59.67 worth of products (based on the best prices I could find online.). Not only that, two of the items in the Roccabox made my Top 5 list of products received in Quarter 1 of 2017. This second box has a lot to live up to! Each month Roccabox collaborates with bloggers, and this month the box has been curated by Gabriella, the editor and founder of http://www.prettyugly.com who wants to share her favourite beauty buys with us this month.

Roccabox doesn’t really give much away in the lead up to the posting of the boxes, but this month I did get a little spoiler on my confirmation email. The email said that this month there would be 5, yes you read that correctly, 5 full size products. I’ve never seen that before from a beauty box – this subscription box seems to get better and better.

The box is the same beautiful design as the debut box, and is a white box with the Roccabox branding embossed on the lid in shiny rose gold. Lifting the lid of the box I can see my Roccabox information card. The front of the card has a letter from this months beauty box curator, with a little message describing the philosophy behind the box. Inside the card lists the items, their values and a little description of how to use the items and what makes them so amazing. The back of the card has some promotional information – if you want to join Roccabox you can have 10% off your first box using the code MYFRIENDSAID.

Peering under the information card I can see that I do indeed have 5 full size items, and they are sitting in pink shredded paper. I love the shredded paper touch, it’s much nicer to see the items nestled in carefully instead of rolling around inside the box. I seem to have a good mix of types of products – at first glance I have one haircare item, two skincare items, and two makeup items. For me, it’s the perfect ratio of items in a box.

Crabtree & Evelyn – LA Source Hand Therapy: I bought my Nan a lovely Crabtree & Evelyn hand cream set for Christmas this year, and it was one of those presents that looked so lovely I wished someone had bought it for me too. This wasn’t one of the exact handcreams in the set I bought, but I am so excited to receive it. I’m hoping for a great smelling lotion which leaves my hands soft.

Kure Bazaar – The Natural Pedicure Ritual: This little foot kit looks really interesting. It comes with a foot mask, socks, a file and cuticle polisher. I started wearing my flip flops this week so this is needed to help me lose my Winter feet. I hope this gives me soft, beautiful looking feet.

Smith & Cult – Shining Lip Lacquer: This shade of lipgloss is called the lovers, and is a soft pink colour. I already have a Smith & Cults lipgloss in red and I love it, so I’m pretty confident I’m going to love this soft girly colour too. I’m hoping it gives me high shine, and great colour.

Nails Inc. – Gel Effect Nail Polish: I could have receive one of 5 shades of this nail polish, but I got the grey and I’m so happy about that. I think soft grey makes a lovely alternative for nude, and goes with everything. I have used and reviewed Nails Inc. polishes before, and I adored them! I’ve not tried the gel version yet, I hope it’s quick drying, with great long lasting colour with a glossy finish.

John Frieda – Frizz Ease Original 6 Effects Serum: I don’t know anyone who hasn’t heard of Frizz Ease, but I have a confession to make – I’ve never actually tried it. When I was younger my hair didn’t need much attention, but nowadays it’s a completely different story and my hair needs all the help it can get. I’m hoping this serum will keep my hair shiny and frizz free between washes.

My first impression of this box is AMAZING! I’ve heard of or tried most of the brands before, and anything I haven’t heard of or tried looks like something I’ve always wanted in my life. I’ll be trying each product throughout the month, and writing detailed reviews of each. When I’ve reviewed all the items I’ll return to this post to see if the box lived up to my expectations, and let you know if I think I got value for money.

Edit: 01.05.17 – my first impression of this box was amazing, and it did not let me down! The value of my items were £39.19, which is an excellent return for the £10 I paid.

A highlight for me was the Smith & Cult Lip Lacquer – okay I knew I would like it but it was so nice to receive this fabulous gloss in a shade I didn’t have yet.

The standout item for me was John Frieda “Frozz Ease”. I’m not being dramatic but I think it’s going to change my life!

Roccabox is quickly becoming one of my favourite beauty box subscriptions. I had an email this morning to say that my subscription has renewed and now I’m just counting down the time until it arrives. Thank you Roccabox – I adore your boxes – Faye 💕
