I’ve seen the Balance Me skincare range around, and it’s been on my list of things to try for a while. My Birchbox card introduces this as: “Made with 99% natural ingredients, this gentle cleanser uses a balancing blend of essential oils to cleanse, decongest and brighten tired complexions. Just massage into damp skin and rinse.” I can do that.
The full name of the product is ‘Daily Essentials Pure Skin Face Wash’, and I’ve got a 50ml sample to try. The good news if you like this product is that it’s readily available to buy in various places online or in store for approximately £16 per 125ml. Based on a similar pricing structure per ml, the value of this sample would be worth roughly £6.40, although I didn’t see this sample size for sale in any retailer.
There is a lot to love about the packaging of this face wash. The design is set over a white background, and there is a lovely pink filigree swirling along the front of the tube at the bottom. Pink is my favourite colour. The writing is primarily in black text, but certain sections are picked out in pink. The tube is simple and pretty, but the colour scheme also promotes ideas of cleanliness and freshness. The tube is upstanding with the nozzle on the bottom to make it easy to get the last of the product out. The lid to the tube is transparent plastic, but it looks like frosted glass. The packaging discusses many of the benefits Balance Me claims you will experience using the face wash. This includes,
“Our sulphate and petroleum-free non-drying water-based cleanser blended with anti-oxidants and gently balancing Spruce Knot extract effectively removes make-up and daily grime and enhances the skins natural radiance.” It also reads,
“98.8% natural. No parabens, sulphites, petroleum, mineral oils, silicones, dea, pegs, propylene glycol, artificial fragrances and colours. Beauty that works naturally. Lovingly made in the UK.”
A lot of these benefits really appeal to me. I like that the product is produced locally, even more so that some love and care have been poured into the mixture. I also really like that the majority of the ingredients are natural, and whilst I still haven’t the foggiest what half of the ingredients listed on the back of the packaging are, it’s an ethos that I appreciate. I can also see that this brand is “against animal testing”, and requests that customers recycle the packaging, values which I completely endorse.
Directions: Squeeze a small amount of wash into clean palms and add warm water. Gently massage all over the face, keeping the eyes closed. Remove wash residue with warm water and pat skin dry. Normal to combination skin.
The wash itself is a white cream, and it smells amazing. It’s quite a distinctive smell, with waves of citrus and something that’s a little woodier. The face wash is very refreshing, and strong enough to wake me up in the morning when I’m half asleep! The cream bursts into a lovely lather on my skin, and washes off easily. My skin feels clean, smooth and fresh – I feel pampered and rejuvenated.
If you’ve read my previous article on the Unani cleanser you will know how attached I am to my current brand of facewash/cleanser, but the Balance Me face wash is just so good. There is something about the feeling of trying a new product that just works for that I love so much, and this product definitely works for me. As it’s a generous sample I have a fair amount left, and then I’ll have to decide if long term I switch to this brand, or stick to my current brand. There is a part of me that wants to do both and alternate, either way I love this and I’m so happy I tried it.
